HISTORY OF THE FCAA

History of the Falls Creek Alpine Association Inc.

The FCAA was created by a small group of Alpine area enthusiasts in 2003 (from original roots in 2002), in order to meet the growing interest of Lodges and apartment owners looking for a voice in the management of the Falls Creek Resort.

From those beginnings the FCAA now has some 46 member organisations and individual members.  The FCAA represents some 30% + of all beds in the Resort and therefore has a large proportion of the Falls Creek constituency represented in its members.

The FCAA is a representative organisation, registered with the Consumer Affairs Department of the Victorian Government.  We are an Incorporated Association.  We are entirely volunteer run and managed.

Since 2003 (and before) the FCAA has been proactive in addressing the many issues that face leaseholders and Falls Creek Alpine resort users.  We are focussed on improvement of the experience of all persons that are part of the Community of Falls Creek.

Major achievements

During the early days of the FCAA the committee commenced a deliberate strategy to ensure that the FCAA was considered the peak body for the non commercial sector.  Thus broadly represented private Lodges and more recently some apartment owners.  We now also have some small businesses as part of of our membership as they see that the FCAA is a dynamic and progressive organisation that addresses major and not so major issues pertaining to Alpine resort users.

During the Pandemic in 2020 - 2022,  the FCAA along with the Victorian Snowsports Association (VSA) worked closely with the Victorian government to develop acceptable pandemic accommodation rules - tailored specifically for Alpine areas.

This was a major achievement as the Alpine regions require a tailored solution.

Other major achievements include:

Adjustment to Leasing requirements - in conjunction with FCRM and the VSA.

Contribution to the ARV Alpine Resorts Bushfire strategy and Insurance reviews.

Stability of our Committee

The FCAA Committee has been very stable over the years, with several members remaining on the Committee since inception and many others remaining on the committee for several years.

We see this as an advantage as it provides the historical context of action by the Resort management and the users of the Alpine area with knowledge freely available.

Our current Committee has decades of experience on the FCAA committee and we are determined to continue to serve our members as best we can.
