Members of the Falls Creek Alpine Association Committee
History of the FCAA
The FCAA was created by a small group of Alpine area enthusiasts in 2003 in order to meet the growing interest of not for profit lodges and apartment owners looking for a voice in the management of the Falls Creek Resort.
From those beginnings the FCAA now has some 46 member organisations and individual members. The FCAA represents some 30% + of all beds in the Resort and therefore has a large proportion of the Falls Creek constituency represented in its members.
The FCAA is a representative organisation, registered with the Consumer Affairs Department of the Victorian Government. We are an Incorporated Association. We are entirely volunteer run and managed.
The FCAA Committee reviewed the Purpose statement of the FCAA in 2025.
The FCAA Committee revised the Purpose of the FCAA to be:
To represent the interests of the Falls Creek community regarding the ongoing effective management and development of Falls Creek.
The Committee also addressed the Values of the FCAA. The following Values were agreed to best represent our Association:
Falls Creek Alpine Association - Values
Honesty. - Honesty encompasses several core elements, including truthfulness, integrity, trustworthiness, reliability, and courage. These elements are interconnected and underwrite our organisation’s ability to build quality relationships.
Transparency – Being open, honest, and easily understood. We will always make information readily available and understandable, fostering trust and accountability.
Collaborative – We engage with our members and the wider Falls Creek community, take feedback and implement changes based on the consensus of those inputs. We also give others constructive feedback that helps improve Falls Creek.
Inclusive – We positively include people across varying identities in order that they feel valued, welcomed, respected, represented and that they fully belong. It validates our authenticity.
Representative – We act on behalf of the Members of our Association and the Community of Falls Creek, acting or speaking on behalf of the community, representing their interests. We will stand up for the true characteristics of the Falls Creek community.
Activities of the FCAA
The FCAA is a part of the Falls Creek Stakeholder Consultative Committee (FCSCC). This group is the main stakeholder engagement group from Alpine Resorts Victoria (ARV) and the Falls Creek Alpine Resort Management (FCARM) team. The FCSCC works with and in conjunction with other stakeholders around issues that effect our collective constituency in Falls Creek. This group is fundamentally involved in major stakehoder consultation rounds.
We, the FCAA, (broadly) do not represent the Commercial operators (Commercial Lodges, Hotels and other commercial entities) at Falls Creek. We have some of these businesses as members and they are most welcome as members. However it is fair to say that our primary constituency is the member based, not for profit lodge segment and apartment owners within the Falls Creek Alpine Resort.
We do, however have many individuals as members as well as other organisations that see themselves more closely aligned with our agenda rather than that of other stakeholder groups.
We have direct access to the Falls Creek Alpine Resort Management group administration and leadership. We also have access to the leadership of Alpine Resorts Victoria on the basis of submissions or other relevant matters.
The FCAA represents the interests of a host of elements and segments of the Falls Creek Alpine Resort Community via the advocacy work we do, the representational work we do and the support we provide to community members be they members or not of the FCAA.
Activities that we undertake are:
Distribitution of information to the Community regarding important matters effecting the Falls Creek Community
Provide a conduit for segments within the Community to engage and interact with other members of the Community in order to enhance the level of understanding of issues within the Falls Creek Community.
The FCAA is also part of the Alpine Resorts Industry Advisory Group (ARIAG). ARIAG is currently the grouping providing advice to Government around the Victorian Alpine industry. ARIAG has been the primary body that advises the State Government of Victoria on policy matters for the Alpine Region. Being a member of ARIAG is important to ensure that our members' views are considered in a diverse forum such as ARIAG.
The FCAA is also part of the Victorian Snowsports Association (VSA). This grouping is the association that is broadly the aggregation of the various ratepayer organisations from the other Victorian resorts. The VSA is a not for profit organisation that provides policy development that is consistent with the views of its membership - being the not for profit and ratepayer segments across the Victorian Alpine resorts.
The FCAA is a core element of the Communinty of Falls Creek. We represent thousands of regular attenders of Falls Creek and deliver our range of activities that support that with a regular information stream to the Falls Creek Communinty via our Website and publicly accessible newsletters.
We provide donations to special service segments of the Falls Creek Community, ranging from the Local Primary School to the Ski Patrol service and Falls Creek Museum. Our most recent donation to the Falls Creek communinty at large, was of a local bus, bus stop seat, in honour of one of our founders, David Risby. We always prepared to support financially the Falls Creek Community via our ongoing commitment to donations to local causes that meet our Criteria.
